💡 Professional Tips for a Successful 700 Series Rebuild:

• Check Ring Gap: Before installing rings on the piston, place each ring into the cylinder bore and use the piston to square it up. Measure the end gap with a feeler gauge to ensure it meets factory service manual specifications.

• Piston Orientation: Look for the "IN" mark or a dot on the piston crown. This must point towards the Intake side (the throttle body/intake valves) to ensure proper valve relief alignment.

• Generous Lubrication: Apply fresh engine oil or high-quality assembly lube to the piston skirts, rings, wrist pin, and cylinder walls during assembly to prevent "dry start" scuffing.

• Stagger Ring Gaps: Ensure the ring end gaps are staggered (usually 120 or 90 degrees apart) around the piston. Never align the gaps, as this will lead to immediate compression loss and oil blow-by.

• Clean Surface Prep: Use a plastic scraper to remove all old gasket material from the engine cases and cylinder head. A perfectly clean, dry surface is essential for the new gaskets to seal properly.
