🛠️ Installation Tips
-
The "Clean Intake" Rule: Before installing the new throttle body, thoroughly clean the rubber intake boot and airbox. If dirt caused your old unit to fail, it will ruin the sensors on the new one instantly. Inspect the boot for tiny cracks that cause vacuum leaks.
-
ECU Relearn Procedure: After installation, disconnect the battery for 15 minutes. Once reconnected, turn the key to "ON" (do not start) for 60 seconds to allow the ECU to calibrate the new TPS and IAC positions.
-
Cable Tension: Ensure the throttle cable has a tiny bit of slack ($2\text{--}3 \text{ mm}$) at the thumb lever. If the cable is too tight, the IAC will not be able to control the idle correctly, leading to stalling or high-revving at stops.
-
Dielectric Grease: Apply a small amount of dielectric grease to the multi-pin electrical connector. On ATVs, these plugs are prone to water ingress, which causes the "ghost" EFI codes that frustrate many owners.
-
Boot Clamp Torque: Tighten the intake clamps firmly but do not "crush" the rubber. An over-tightened clamp can actually cause the rubber boot to slip off under engine vibration.
🔍 Troubleshooting Guide
| Issue | Possible Cause | Solution |
| Erratic or High Idle | IAC valve malfunction or vacuum leak. | Ensure the mounting boots are airtight. If the idle stays high, perform the "ECU Relearn" mentioned above. |
| Bogs/Stumbles on Gas | Faulty TPS (Throttle Position Sensor). | If the engine stutters at a specific thumb position, the TPS has a "dead spot." This new assembly includes a pre-calibrated TPS. |
| "Check Engine" Light | Loose connector or sensor fault. | Verify the 6-pin (or equivalent) plug is fully seated. Most codes on the 570/450 relate to the TPS voltage being out of range. |
| Stalling at Stop Signs | Dirty butterfly valve or IAC failure. | If the bike dies every time you let off the gas, the Idle Air Control is not bypassing enough air. Replacing the unit fixes this. |
| Hard Cold Starts | Improper air-fuel mixture at idle. | Ensure your air filter is clean. If the engine cranks but won't fire without "giving it gas," the throttle body is likely the culprit. |
