š ļø Installation TipsĀ
-
Inspect Differential Seals: While the axle is out, inspect the oil seals and bearings in the rear differential. Replacing them now can save you from a major leak later.
-
Clean the Splines: Before installation, use a wire brush to clean the splines inside the differential and the brake drum. Apply a thin layer of molybdenum grease to all splines to prevent future seizing or rusting.
-
Seating the Snap Rings: Ensure any snap rings or clips are fully seated in their grooves. A partially seated ring can lead to the axle sliding out or damaging the internal gears.
-
Torque the Axle Nut: Use a large torque wrench to tighten the axle nut (90308-HM5-930) to the manufacturer's specified torque. Under-tightening can cause the wheel hub to wobble and strip the splines.
-
Safety Lanyard/Pin: Once the nut is tight, always install a new cotter pin through the hole. Never reuse an old, bent pin on a rotating axle.

Fit for following Ā Honda ATV
- TRX300 FourTrax 300 2x4 1993-2000
* TRX300FW FourTrax 300 4x4 1993-2000
* NOT Fit For 1988-1992
š Troubleshooting Guide
| Issue | Possible Cause | Solution |
| Wheel Wobble/Vibration | Bent axle or loose hub nut. | Check if the axle runs straight while spinning. Ensure the hub nut is torqued to spec and the washer (90481-HC4-000) is present. |
| Grinding Noise | Worn axle bearings or dry splines. | If you hear grinding, the carrier bearings or differential bearings may be shot. Re-grease splines if the noise is a "creak." |
| Difficulty Sliding Axle In | Burrs on splines or rust in carrier. | Lightly file down any small burrs on the axle splines. Do not force it with a hammer; it should slide in with moderate hand pressure. |
| Oil Leaking onto Axle | Failed differential oil seal. | The axle itself doesn't leak oil, but a failed seal in the final drive will allow oil to travel down the shaft. Replace seals immediately. |
| Stripped Threads on Axle | Over-tightening or rust. | If threads are stripped, the axle must be replaced. Always ensure the threads are clean and dry before tightening the new nut. |
