🛠️ Installation Tips
-
Pre-Lubrication: The differential is usually shipped with only a light coating of protective oil. You MUST fill it with high-quality 80W-90 Hypoid Gear Oil before operation. Do not run it dry!
-
Spline Care: Apply a generous layer of Molybdenum Grease to the axle splines where they slide into the differential gears. This prevents future corrosion and ensures smooth power transfer.
-
Seals Inspection: Your new kit includes pre-installed seals. However, ensure the mating surfaces on your vehicle's axle tubes are clean and free of burrs to avoid damaging these seals during installation.
-
Brake Drum Alignment: When sliding the axle through the new differential, ensure the brake drum and backing plate are aligned. The TRX300 has a specific "stacking" order for spacers and seals—refer to your service manual.
-
Vent Hose: Don't forget to connect the breather/vent hose to the top of the differential. If the vent is clogged or disconnected, internal pressure will build up and blow out the oil seals.

🔍 Troubleshooting Guide
| Issue | Possible Cause | Solution |
| Whining/Grinding Noise | Low gear oil or break-in period. | Check the oil level immediately. New gears may have a very slight "hum" for the first hour, but grinding indicates a critical lack of lubrication. |
| Oil Leaking from Seals | Improperly seated axle or blocked vent. | Ensure the axle is fully pushed into the differential. Check that the vent tube is clear and not pinched. |
| 4WD/2WD Engagement Issues | Axle splines not fully seated. | If the wheels aren't turning under power, the axle may not be fully engaged with the internal ring gear. Re-verify the snap ring positions. |
| Hard to Turn by Hand | New gear mesh is tight. | It is normal for a brand-new differential to feel slightly stiffer than a worn-out old unit. It will loosen up after the first few miles of use. |
| Vibration at Speed | Bent axle or loose mounting bolts. | Ensure the differential is bolted securely to the swingarm. Check that the wheel hubs are torqued to spec on the new axle. |
