🛠️ Installation Tips

  • Seal the Entry Point: When routing the wiring harness through the handlebar and into the hull, ensure the rubber grommet is seated perfectly. Apply a small amount of marine-grade silicone sealant around the entry point to prevent water from seeping into the hull and causing electrical shorts.

  • Dielectric Grease is Mandatory: Marine environments are brutal on connectors. Apply a generous amount of dielectric grease to the multi-pin plug before connecting it to the main harness. This prevents the "green crust" corrosion that leads to intermittent starting issues.

  • Lanyard Clip Tension: Test the safety lanyard clip before hitting the water. The button should pop out instantly when the clip is pulled. If the movement feels sluggish, check for any plastic flashing or debris from the packaging.

  • Avoid Cable Binding: Ensure the wiring harness has enough slack to allow for full-lock turns of the handlebars. If the wires are too tight, they can pull out of the switch box or the connector inside the hull during high-speed maneuvers.

  • Drain Plug Check: After the first few minutes of operation post-installation, open your hull drain plugs (on land) to ensure no water entered through the handlebar mounting area during the ride.

 🔍 Troubleshooting Guide

Issue Possible Cause Solution
Engine Won't Crank Lanyard not seated or corroded Start button. Ensure the safety lanyard clip is fully pushed in. If the "Start" button feels "crunchy," salt crystals have likely formed inside. Replace the assembly to restore the circuit.
Engine Won't Shut Off Shorted Stop button or bypassed Lanyard. This is a major safety hazard. If the "Stop" button fails, the internal contacts are likely fused together due to moisture. Replace the switch box immediately.
Intermittent Misfire/Stalling Loose Lanyard clip or frayed wire. If the engine cuts out while hitting waves, the safety lanyard switch may be sensitive to vibration. Ensure the clip fits snugly; if it's loose, the kill switch will trigger randomly.
Start Button Clicks but No Crank Weak battery or faulty Starter Relay. If you hear a "click" from the hull but the engine doesn't turn, the switch is working, but your battery is low or the starter solenoid/relay has failed.
Headlight/Display Flicker Loose grounding wire in the harness. Check the multi-pin connector for a loose black (ground) wire. A poor ground in the handlebar switch can cause the entire dashboard to behave erratically.
