🛠️ Installation TipsÂ
-
Clean the Tank Exterior: Before removing the old pump, wash the area around the fuel tank opening. You do not want dirt or sand falling into your fuel tank—this will kill your new pump instantly.
-
Relieve Pressure: Before disconnecting fuel lines, ensure the system pressure is relieved. Disconnect the electrical plug and crank the engine for a few seconds.
-
Handle the Float Carefully: When sliding the new assembly into the tank, be very gentle with the fuel level float arm. Bending it will result in an inaccurate fuel gauge reading.
-
Inspect the Seal: Ensure the large rubber O-ring is seated perfectly flat in its groove. If it’s pinched, you will smell gas fumes or experience a leak when the tank is full.
-
Oil Filter Prep: When installing the included oil filter, always smear a little fresh engine oil on the rubber gasket to ensure a proper seal and easy removal next time.
🔍 Troubleshooting Guide
| Issue | Possible Cause | Solution |
| Bogs Down at High RPM | Clogged fuel strainer or weak pump motor. | The pump cannot provide enough volume for high speeds. Replacing the full assembly ensures maximum fuel flow. |
| No "Whirring" Sound | No power to pump or dead motor. | When you turn the key, you should hear the pump "prime" for 2 seconds. If silent, check the fuel pump relay or the pump itself. |
| Hard Starting (Cold) | Low fuel pressure in the rail. | A failing check valve inside the pump allows fuel to drain back into the tank, causing long cranking times. |
| Sputtering on Bumps | Loose electrical connection or debris. | Ensure the main plug is clicked in firmly. Debris in the tank can intermittently block the intake "sock." |
| Engine Overheating | Lean fuel mixture. | If the pump provides low pressure, the engine runs "lean," which increases combustion temperature and can damage your Raptor's engine. |
